The Artist Story

Miles Bishop is a Kentucky-based hyperreal charcoal and graphite artist specializing in highly detailed animal portraiture and large-scale fine art commissions. His work focuses on capturing emotion, texture, movement, and realism at an intense level of precision, often blending dramatic contrast with subtle natural detail.

Working primarily in charcoal and graphite on archival paper, Bishop creates pieces that aim to feel both technically impressive and emotionally personal. His subjects range from intimate pet portraits to powerful wildlife and equestrian works, each designed to create a strong visual presence in a space.

Although still early in his career, Bishop has rapidly developed a recognizable style through constant experimentation, long-form rendering techniques, and a deep focus on craftsmanship. Alongside original artwork, he operates a growing commission-based art business centered around museum-quality custom pieces and collectible fine art prints.

Creative Vision

My art examines the psychological impact of distorted imagery, specifically the merging of wildlife and human traits. I investigate the brain's reaction to subjects that appear familiar yet distinctly surreal. By utilizing hyperrealistic charcoal techniques, I craft a deliberate friction, encouraging the audience to analyze if my one-of-a-kind originals spark a feeling of solace, intrigue, or subtle discomfort.

Honors and Exhibits

I was honored to exhibit my original graphite illustrations at the Boyd's Station gallery located in Cynthiana, KY. It was a wonderful opportunity to present my tactile realism pieces to a local audience that values the craft and dedication of independent fine artists.
